LOS ANGELES (Oct. 25, 2018) – Jaime Jimenez will serve as the new General Manager of Los Angeles Unified’s Public Television Station, KLCS.
Mr. Jimenez has more than 20 years of experience in the broadcasting industry, including management of sales, operations and news. Throughout his career, he has held key leadership roles that have contributed toward significant audience and revenue growth.
“We want KLCS to be the voice of public education in our community,” said Superintendent Austin Beutner. “Our plan is to engage students in all facets of the work – behind the camera, in front of the camera and in programming. We also want to engage families, teachers and our communities in this work.”
“We are very excited for Jaime Jimenez to join the KLCS team,” said School Board President Mónica García. “KLCS has been a pillar in Los Angeles Unified for decades, and we are looking forward to the talent, experience and perspective that Mr. Jimenez will bring to Los Angeles Unified and the entire community.”
“I am excited to have been chosen for this important role within Los Angeles Unified,” said Mr. Jimenez. “I look forward to the core mission of providing programming and services that can educate, inform and enlighten our students, families and the entire Los Angeles community.”
Mr. Jimenez’s extensive experience comes at an exciting time for the “education station,” one of only five in the nation operated by a school district. Upgrades completed this year include a state-of-the art studio. Because of additional technological improvements, KLCS now produces high-definition, multi-camera field productions, including live broadcasts.
Mr. Jimenez attended Los Angeles Unified schools and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles.
