García Resolution Unanimously Approved to Welcome Youth On Take Our Daughters, Sons (and Grandchildren) to Work Day

LOS ANGELES (April 18, 2017) - A tradition that began in 1993 to empower young girls to build confidence in the workplace, “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” now includes millions of participants across the country.

“On our Take Our Daughters, Sons and Grandchildren to Work Day, Los Angeles will welcome its children to the careers that they will one day assume,” said School Board Member Mónica García, sponsor of the measure. “Our mission is to support learners on their path to the graduation finish line and provide the foundation for the college and career of their choice,”

The Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education today unanimously approved a resolution declaring Thursday, April 27, 2017 in support of this effort.

The resolution “is an opportunity for adults, parents and mentors to share in the responsibility to model leadership” and that participation in this activity will help “ensure a strong and prepared 21st century workforce.”
