Statement from L.A. School Board President Steve Zimmer and Superintendent Michelle King on the Death of Scott Folsom

It is with sadness and extremely heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Mr. Scott Folsom. Scott was an incredible man who dedicated more than 25 years of service and leadership to the L.A. Unified family.

His tenacity, and tireless advocacy contributed to the success of the District’s multibillion-dollar bond program and the construction of 130 new schools. He was, in many ways, the conscience of this District, supporting what was best for students, including arts programs, health services and health education. Scott sat on numerous committees, held many positions and received a wealth of well-deserved awards.

Scott never stopped volunteering, and his efforts changed so many lives for the better. For these contributions, and countless others, we celebrate Scott today and every day. We will greatly miss his wit, his strength, his smile and his unwavering compassion for L.A. Unified.

Thank you Scott. Thank you dear friend.
