She brings to the position an extensive background in labor relations primarily with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S.-based in Anaheim.
As the lead negotiator for L.A. Unified, she will represent the District regarding terms and conditions of employment for employees represented by 12 collective bargaining units.
She will report to General Counsel David Holmquist, L.A. Unified’s top lawyer. He said, “The Los Angeles Unified School District employs more than 60,000 full-time workers and part-time staff brings the number closer to100,000. They include teachers, administrators, school bus drivers, cafeteria staff, clerical support, and many other positions. Most are represented, so the director of Labor Relations is an important senior management position. I look forward to working with Ms. Alvarado as we continue to collaborate with our employees.”
She is expected to start the new position on July 11. Her contract is approved through June 30, 2017. ###
