“Administrative professionals are so excellent, that we sometimes take for granted all that they do until they are out for a day or two. They are essential here at L.A. Unified. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you," Board President Steve Zimmer said.
Board Vice President Dr. George McKenna described the importance of administrative professionals. “It takes a strong team to excel, and that certainly includes the support and efficiency of administrative professionals and employees who are in clerical positions. I am proud to say ‘thank you.”
Educational office professionals are placed on the front lines, often serving as the first contact for the public, whether in person, on the phone or online.
Their work requires advanced knowledge and a versatile skillset that includes communications, computer software, office technology, project management, customer service and other office management responsibilities.
Indeed, they are masters of data and help ensure requests and concerns are handled correctly.
“Your contributions to every child in Los Angeles is recognized,” School Board Member Mónica García said of administrative professionals. “We have the best in L.A. Unified.”
The board said April 24-30 would be known as Administrative Professionals Week, and Wednesday, April 27 as Administrative Professionals Day. The board salutes their contributions.
“Anyone who has worked at a school site knows the essential role of administrative professionals in ensuring that our schools operate effectively and efficiently,” said Board Member Mónica Ratliff. “I am excited that all of us at L.A. Unified will be celebrating and thanking our administrative colleagues for their hard work and dedication to our students, families, staff and community.”
