LAUSD School Board Member Mónica García's Statement on Governor Brown’s Education Budget Proposal for 2016-17

LOS ANGELES (Jan. 7, 2016) – LAUSD School Board Member Mónica García issued the following statement on Governor Brown’s proposed education budget for the 2016-17 fiscal year:

“Investing in California’s children and funding the schools our communities deserve must be a priority. Education is the answer to our state's economic recovery and our collective success.

“Governor Brown’s call for additional funding is a step in the right direction to help our children read, write, think, and believe on their path to graduation. We are optimistic that the legislature will agree with the intent of the Governor’s education budget proposal and will increase the resources necessary for teachers, staff, and principals to nurture our lifelong learners.

“Adequate funding is crucial to reach 100% graduation.”
