Supt. Ramon C. Cortines Provides Statement on MiSiS Summer School Process

July 9, 2015
Late today, it was brought to my attention that there were questions surrounding grade reporting for summer school. Specifically, teachers were reporting that My Integrated Student Information System (MiSiS), the student data tracking software for the Los Angeles Unified School District, would not allow them to see grades. This issue was resolved earlier this week. No data was lost. Graduation will not be affected.

Additionally, the grade-reporting process differs for summer school, which may have created confusion. This could have been better communicated, for which I take full responsibility. At that time, my priority was to ensure that Bell High School, the District’s lone year-round campus, had a smooth opening for students who started the new school year on July 1.

Meanwhile, the summer school staff is doing an incredible job.

Regarding MiSiS, the team will provide a status update, Friday on summer school. I said it would take another year to stabilize MiSiS, and L.A. Unified is working toward that goal. The District remains committed to our students, administrators, teachers and families.
