A Note to Newmark High School, Labeled as a Model Continuation High School

Good Morning Principal Lauer:

I am contacting you on behalf of the California Department of Education (CDE), to congratulate you on the designation of Newmark High School as a Model Continuation High School for 2015 by State Superintendent of Public Instruction (SSPI) Tom Torlakson.

An award letter from SSPI Tom Torlakson will be mailed to you this week with a copy to your district superintendent.
 
A news release will go out today announcing the designation of the 29 new Model Continuation High Schools.
 
Your school will be recognized as a Model Continuation High School at the 2015 California Continuation Education Association (CCEA) State Conference, which is scheduled for May 1–3, 2015. An award certificate will be presented to you at the conference by a representative from the CDE.
 
Excerpts from the Model Continuation High School site visit team report and the recommendation for your school will be distributed at the CCEA State Conference Award Ceremony.
 
You will be contacted in the near future by a CCEA representative regarding the opportunity to participate in the Model Continuation High School Student Essay Contest. Essay contest winners will also be recognized at the conference.

You will be eligible to purchase a Model Continuation High School flag from CCEA to display at your school. If you have questions regarding purchasing a flag for your school, please to contact Vic Whitaker, Model Schools Liaison, CCEA, by e-mail at vwhit3@aol.com.
 
Model Continuation High Schools are designated for a period of three years. As a condition of continuing eligibility, each school is required to file an Annual Assurance of Services Form for the second and third years of designation.
 
A copy of the Annual Assurance of Services Form is attached to this e-mail. This form may also be found in the 2014–15 Model Continuation High School Application.
