About LAUSD Young Athletes:
LAUSD Young Athletes is a partnership between Special Olympics Southern California and the Los Angeles Unified School District. Young Athletes is intended to introduce students 2-7 year old to sports skills and play activities that foster physical, cognitive and social development of young children with and without intellectual disabilities. Adapted Physical Education Teachers complete the curriculum during the school day. This program provides opportunities to learn through sports competition, develop all aspects of total fitness needed to complete in any sport, and promotes the development of life-long skills that will help student athletes lead a more productive and independent life.
