LAUSD Board Adopts Successor Agreement with Teamsters

The Teamsters represent school administrative assistants, plant managers, food service managers and other supervisory staff.

“This supplemental agreement provides important job protections and opportunities for the members of Unit S. Both teams worked diligently and efficiently to bring negotiations to a successful conclusion,” said Vivian Ekchian, chief labor negotiator for LAUSD.

The three-year agreement allows payment to employees, who use their personal vehicle to transport heavy equipment, and changes to certain food services practices. In addition, it permits employees to participate in a pilot of the Classified Growth and Development Cycle, and to participate in implementation of the semi-monthly pay cycle.

The agreement also allows for an advisory committee on respectful treatment and calls for inclusion of religious creed language to the non-discrimination article.

The agreement was ratified on January 5, 2015 by 95% of Teamsters 572 voters. The two sides reached a salary agreement earlier as well.
