Many LAUSD Employees Receive 2 Percent Lump Sum

As LAUSD has successfully reached salary agreements with several labor groups, today, Sept. 15, employees in Units D, S, J, AALA Certificated and District-represented employees are receiving their 2 percent lump sum payment for the 2013-2014 year. This is in addition to the 2 percent raise they received in their August paycheck, plus a 4.5 percent increase over the next two years.

All of our employees made sacrifices during the "Great Recession" and we are extremely grateful. During that difficult time, we all knew it was the right thing to do - to put our students first. We know 2 percent isn't nearly enough to show our appreciation for all the dedicated services to our students, but it is a step in the right direction.

As the State, county and country slowly rebound from the recession, together, we are moving forward to honor those sacrifices made across the District - slowly but surely. All of our employees deserve raises, just as the majority of the employees are already receiving.

Employees in Units A, B, C, D, F, G, H, J, S, and AALA have reached some form of an agreement with the District in the area of salary. In addition, the Board has approved increases for employees not represented by unions. We are confident that we can come to an agreement with the remaining bargaining units that is fair and balanced, and puts our students first.
