The “Boot Camp” is a free nine-week program that provides small contractors with the tools necessary to improve their competitive bidding and knowledge for public works contracting. The first session will start Wednesday March 12, 2014 and ongoing for the eight additional sessions ending Wednesday, May 7. A 10-Hour OSHA Training is offered to all participants.
At the conclusion of the nine-week program, graduates of the program will be ready to bid on LAUSD contracts, and will be well-prepared to pursue contracts with other public agencies. The program has both short and long-term benefits for participating contractors and will serve to expand the District's pool of qualified contractors.
The Boot Camp’s comprehensive training is offered by our Facilities Services Division and conducted by industry experts covering the following topics:
Bonding & Certification, How to Develop a Safety Plan, LAUSD Contractor Prequalification, How to Bid on Informal, Formal, and JOC Contracts, Public Contract Law, Access to Capital & Governing Tax Guidelines, Labor Compliance, Project Stabilization Agreement & We Build Program, The Principles of Estimating, Scheduling, and Bidding, Marketing Your Business: Social Media, Networking, and “Meet the Primes”.
The Boot Camp is geared towards small Prime and Sub-Contractors -- the primary focus is on all Facilities & Construction work.
Training will take place at the Los Angeles Unified School District Headquarters; registration is required and is FREE. You can register at www.laschools.org/sbe.
