Choices Application Period and Deadline for 2014-2015 Magnet and Permits with Transportation

LOS ANGELES (Sept. 24, 2013) — The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) announced today that the window for applying to the CHOICES Programs opens on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 with a deadline of Friday, Nov. 15, 2013.  These programs are open to students residing within the District’s boundaries.

For more information, please visit the eChoices website at The eChoices website includes access to transportation information, maps, a school selection tool and a step-by-step tutorial on how to fill out the CHOICES application. The online application will be available starting October 1, 2013. To be considered “on time,” the CHOICES application must be postmarked or received by Student Integration Services via mail or online submission by 5 p.m. on Fri., November 15, 2013.

For parents and guardians who do not have access to the Internet, paper copies of the CHOICES brochures in English and Spanish (OPCIONES) will be available the week of September 30, 2013 at all LAUSD schools, Los Angeles City public libraries, Educational Service Centers (ESC), Parent Community Services Branch (PCSB), and District headquarters.  Parents/guardians who speak Armenian, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Farsi, Tagalog or Vietnamese may request a copy of the application instructions in their home language from their local school, or online at the eChoices website.

Additional information will be presented on the District’s television station, KLCS-TV.  “CHOICES 2014”, a half-hour program that features some of LAUSD’s Magnet schools and centers and provides details about the Permit With Transportation (PWT) program option.  Broadcast multiple times in English and Spanish, beginning October 1, 2013, the schedule has been printed on the back cover of the CHOICES brochure.  Local newspapers, magazines, bus ads, and radio and television stations will also provide details.
