LAUSD School Board members voted 5 – 0 on a resolution to exempt the District from paying a water parcel fee proposed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors (BOS), known as the “Clean Water, Clean Beaches Initiative.”

Board Members Richard Vladovic and Nury Martinez were not present for the vote. The resolution, sponsored by Board Vice-President Tamar Galatzan, was considered just prior to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors public hearing. The public hearing provided an opportunity for parcel owners to submit concerns to the BOS.

On Tuesday, the Board of Education approved a resolution supporting Senate Bill 10, which would expedite the dismissal of educators involved in child abuse cases. The resolution was sponsored by Board President Mónica García, Board Vice-President Tamar Galatzan and
Board Member Nury Martinez.

In addition, the Board approved the District’s state legislative agenda for 2013, directing the Office of Government Relations to seek statutory changes in Sacramento on a variety of issues.
