Leo Politi Elementary School Celebrates Newly Renovated Library Makeover Courtesy of Target and the Heart of America Foundation

LOS ANGELES (Sept. 28, 2012) – School Board President Mónica García, a book-lover since
childhood, joined actress and author Jamie Lee Curtis recently to unveil the remodeled
library at Leo Politi Elementary School in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

“We are right on target, investing in our library, celebrating reading and supporting good
neighborhood partners, such as our friends at Target and the Heart of America
Foundation,” Board President García said.

Thanks to their generosity, the students can enjoy 2,000 new books in the school library, and they also got seven to take home. Also at the celebration, Curtis read from her latest children’s
book, "My Brave Year of Firsts: Tries, Sighs and High Fives."

The festivities included the inauguration of a pantry filled with fresh fruits and vegetables to encourage area residents to eat healthy. In an effort to combat hunger and its impact on learning, the
Target Meals for Minds food pantry will provide monthly distributions of staples and fresh produce to
students and their families. The food pantry is made possible through a partnership with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
