Elementary Schools Host Recycling-Themed Fashion Show To Promote Reusing, Reducing, Repurposing

WHAT:
Proving the adage that one person’s trash is another’s treasure, more than a dozen students from Garden Grove, Bertrand Avenue and Parthenia Street Elementary schools will model original fashions made from recycled and repurposed materials. As they strut the red carpet, students will feature such creations as dresses made from snack bags, jewelry crafted from pop-tops and plastic straws, and entire outfits woven from newsprint.

Through the second annual Recyclable Materials Fashion and Art Show, students aim to raise awareness about the importance of reusing and recycling materials and reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills.

First- through fifth-grade student models
LAPD’s West Valley Division and Community Advisory Board representatives
Waste Management of Los Angeles representatives
Los Angeles Kings representatives
