Data Privacy Day
1/28/2017, 2:00 PM
Data Privacy Day has been recognized in the United States and Canada every January 28 since 2008. The movement, led by National Cyber Security Alliance, is an extension of Europe’s annual commemoration of Convention 108, a treaty signed on January 28, 1981 that guarantees protections of personal information traveling across international borders.
On January 10, 2017, the Board of Education unanimously passed a resolution authorizing L.A. Unified to register alongside businesses, government institutions and nonprofits nationwide as a “Data Privacy Day Champion” committing to respect privacy, safeguard data and foster public trust.
