WHAT: Students at 186th Street Elementary School have a common goal: Unity for peace. They will celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s holiday by holding their 12th Annual Peace March, and by releasing 20 doves for unity. In addition, they will commit to live and work in a bully-free learning zone and complete public service projects.
The students also will be honoring those who dedicate their lives to public and military service in the nearby area. These local heroes will meet the children and participate in their march. The students also will demonstrate lessons learned from Peacefirst, which offers a curriculum that includes games and activities to teach students positive behaviors that the school uses.
