Statement by Superintendent Michelle King On End to CSU Placement Exams

 Aug. 4, 2017

We commend California State University Chancellor Timothy P. White for his bold and innovative decision to eliminate roadblocks and provide additional supports for incoming freshmen.

By providing more equitable access to credit-bearing math and English courses, students will begin earning course credits from their very first day, immediately putting them on the track toward a college degree.

As one of the few school districts in California that requires passage of the A-G course sequence for graduation, L.A. Unified remains committed to preparing our graduates to be college-, career- and life-ready.
