In partnership with Mayor Eric Garcetti and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), L.A. Unified sponsored a “Save the Drop” contest, encouraging students to demonstrate creative strategies to conserve water.
Overall contests winners from an elementary, middle and high school will each receive a $50,000 grant to fund a conservation project at their school. A dozen additional winners, one from first through twelfth grades, will receive a $10,000 grant to fund a project at their school.
The awards will be presented during a meeting of the Board of Education’s Budget, Audit and Facilities Committee.
